Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
The short version: Portia does not collect, track, store, transmit, or upload any data about you, your machine, your code, your network, or the processes it observes. Everything stays 100% on your Mac. There is no server, no telemetry, no analytics, no account.
1. Information We Collect
None. Portia operates entirely locally on your device. It does not collect personal information, usage analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any other data.
2. Information Portia Observes Locally
To do its job, Portia reads information that already exists on your Mac:
- System notifications and signals related to port-binding errors.
- Process names, process IDs, and the port numbers they hold.
This information is read in-memory, used only to display the local notification you see, and is never stored, logged to disk, or transmitted off your machine.
3. Network Activity
Portia makes no outbound network connections. It does not call home, check for updates over the network, fetch remote configuration, or contact any server. You can verify this with Little Snitch, LuLu, or your firewall of choice.
4. No Third-Party Services
Portia does not use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Sentry), advertising SDKs, A/B testing services, or any other third-party data processors.
5. Source Code and Project Data
Portia does not read, scan, index, or transmit your source code, files, or repositories. It only inspects port-related process metadata exposed by macOS.
6. Permissions
Portia uses standard macOS permissions to display user notifications and to terminate a process when you explicitly click the action button. It does not request Full Disk Access, Accessibility, Screen Recording, or any other invasive permission.
7. Children's Privacy
Portia is a developer utility not directed at children under 13. Since we collect no data from anyone, we collect no data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
If our privacy practices ever change — for example, if a future version introduces optional features that require any form of data handling — we will update this page and clearly disclose the change before that version is distributed.
